Microdosing is the latest wellness trend to sweep the cannabis industry. Microdosing is simply taking small doses of cannabis, just enough to experience therapeutic effects but not enough to “get high.” Typical microdose amounts range from 2mg THC up to 10mg. Because the effects of cannabis are highly personalized due to unique body chemistry, effective doses vary by person.
Small doses of THC can be effective for minor pain relief, mood improvement, reduction in anxiety, improved sleep and relief from stress. Low dose edibles and tinctures are the easiest products to microdose, but controlled released vaporizers are also an option.
Microdosing is a great way to experiment with cannabis for wellness without fear of over-consumption. Start with a 2mg dose and wait for 15-30 minutes to see if you feel any effects. If not, take another 2mg, wait, evaluate and repeat until you find your correct dose. Once you’ve found your effective dose, take it 1-3x daily over a period of several days and keep track of any improvements you experience. If you need to adjust the frequency or dose, do so and again keep daily notes about your appetite, sleep, pain and mood.
Remember that different strains offer different effects, so you may need to try several products before you find the right one for you.
